Wow I’m absolutely buzzing. There is awesome music playing on the Radio, Radio 2 to be precise. I’m listening to Ana Matronic, the singer from the scissors sisters covering for Jo Whiley.
Music is so evocative. It is so influential on ones mood. I am a youtube junkie and most likely listen to way too many of the same droll songs on repeat.
One thing you have to be careful with music dragging you down. There are certain songs that remind me of being unwell. When I was hospitalised I sang at the top of my lungs. I made up songs. I wrote a song, (I think) and rhymes and poetry. I mean really that is absurd! My sister is a songwriter not me. But that is how my mind works, and it was probably very entertaining for other people in the hospital. I do recall making one man in particular chuckle, at which point I immediately quietened down.
But it was very cathartic. So some songs can be dangerous they can remind you of a past time, a difficult time but songs can be amazing powerful also.
If you can, create a mood playlist...
Perhaps a hyper one, perhaps a mellow one, avoid the depressing music if you can, or just perhaps be rigid and only listen to it if you feel in control of your mood. Otherwise It may drag you down.
While I’m writing this, the music keeps playing on the radio, my own favourite songs and covers.
James Blake covering Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You” and Johnny Cash “Hurt” and to top it off “Crazy” by Patsy Cline.
I have to be careful with music as I can while away many hours listening to songs on repeat but as I said it certainly can have healing effects.
What do you like listening to?
Does it affect your mood?
Here’s some positive music I recommend to stay stable. Here are some of my “happy” songs.
